Description
St. Patrick's is an independent Cork label working the old Irish trade of sourcing, maturing and bottling whiskey under its own name. This is its youngest statement, a 3 Years Old blend, just past the legal threshold at which Irish spirit becomes whiskey, bottled for the German market.
The whiskey rests entirely in first fill Bourbon barrels, active casks that give a lot of flavour quickly: vanilla, coconut and fresh oak over the soft cereal and green fruit of young Irish grain and malt. At 40% it is light, clean and honest about its youth, an uncomplicated pour that shows exactly what first fill American oak does to a young Irish blend.
