Description
Spanish Earl remembers the Spanish fleet that sailed into Kinsale in 1601, and Kinsale Spirit Co. gives it a suitably travelled cask bill. It is a single malt distilled at the Great Northern Distillery in Dundalk, Co. Louth, taken through a triple cask regime with a spell in rum wood and a stout cask finish for the Co. Cork bonder.
Ex-Bourbon oak sets up honey and orchard fruit, the rum ageing adds banana and brown sugar warmth, and the stout finish closes with dark chocolate and a roasted malt edge. Bottled at 43% without an age statement, it is the most cask driven of the Kinsale earls while staying approachable.
