Description
Kinsale Spirit Co. bottles from the Co. Cork harbour town whose 1601 battle reshaped Ireland, naming its whiskeys for the earls of that story. Great Earl is the single grain of the range, distilled on the column stills of the Great Northern Distillery in Dundalk, Co. Louth and finished with an Italian twist by the Kinsale bonder.
Recharred and virgin American oak give the grain its backbone of toffee, coconut and soft vanilla before a Sangiovese wine cask finish brushes in red cherry and a dry, gently tannic edge. Bottled at 40% without an age statement, it is a light, sweet natured pour built for easy sipping and long drinks.
