Description
Red Earl carries the flag for Kinsale Spirit Co., a bonder in the Co. Cork harbour town of Kinsale that sources its whiskey from the Great Northern Distillery in Dundalk, Co. Louth. Distilled in 2016 and bottled in 2020 at 4 Years Old, it is a young blend with an unusually specific spread of casks.
Ex-Bourbon barrels do the early work of vanilla and soft toffee, while ex-sherry and ex-Rioja casks fold in red apple, sultana and a light winey grip, a nod to the Spanish thread in the Kinsale story. Bottled at 40%, it stays easy and rounded, made for sessions rather than ceremony.
