An island blend of Jamaica and Barbados from 1423’s S.B.S line, the Jamaican pot still fruit leading on banana, pineapple and papaya before Bajan roundness arrives, bottled honestly dry and balanced at 46%.
Description
S.B.S Jamaica / Barbados is a marriage of two of rum's most respected islands, assembled by the Danish house 1423 under their meticulous Single Barrel Selection ethos. Built from pot and column distillate and bottled unsweetened at 46%, it pairs Jamaica's high ester exuberance with Barbados for structure and balance.
On the nose the Jamaican character sets the tone, bright tropical fruit of banana, pineapple and papaya carried by fermentation driven esters. The palate brings in woody spice and coconut alongside the banana, and it is here that the Barbados side steps forward, lending a certain roundness and weight to the fruit. The finish runs woody and warm with a touch of honey. It is an honest, unsweetened blend that lets each island show its hand in turn, the kind of pour that rewards a little attention as the two origins take their place.
