A warm, woody El Salvador column still rum bottled at 12 years and 55% by Danish house 1423 under their S.B.S line, full proof and unsweetened in style, with vanilla, caramel, honey and coconut giving way to drying oak and spice.
Description
This S.B.S 2008 is a single cask El Salvador rum selected by 1423 World Class Spirits, the Danish bottler behind the detail focused Single Barrel Selection. Distilled in 2008 on a column still and aged twelve years in an ex-bourbon cask, it is bottled at a full 55% in the house tradition of cask strength, transparent releases.
The profile bridges Spanish style softness and higher proof bite. Bourbon cask sweetness shows as vanilla, caramel and honey with a coconut lift, then the palate firms up with barrel wood, warmth and a drying, tannic finish carrying spice. 1423's S.B.S line is bottled without added sugar, so the sweetness here is cask derived rather than dosed, and the extra strength gives it more grip than the gentle 40% Salvadoran rums it descends from. A natural step for anyone who enjoys warm, oak forward Spanish style rum with real proof behind it.
