Description
Ruinart is the oldest established Champagne house, founded in Reims in 1729, and Chardonnay sets the tone of this Brut. Fruit comes mainly from the chalky Montagne de Reims and Côte des Blancs, which lend minerality and freshness. The wine follows the traditional method, with a second fermentation in bottle and a minimum of three years on the lees before disgorgement, so autolysis builds bready depth alongside the grape's citrus edge. The dosage is set at a classic Brut level, keeping the wine dry and balanced.
The colour is light gold with a fine, persistent perlage. The nose shows grapefruit and lemon with white flowers, a touch of honey and a brioche note from the lees ageing. The palate is fresh and precise, with well integrated acidity for structure, and the finish is long with a hint of ripe fruit and toasted bread. Serve at 8 to 10 degrees in a white wine glass. It works as an aperitif and alongside oysters, grilled salmon or a mild risotto.
