Description
Ruinart built its reputation on Chardonnay, and this Blanc de Blancs is made entirely from the grape, sourced from the house's finest Champagne vineyards and presented in the maison's distinctive bulbous bottle. The wine follows the traditional method, with a second fermentation in bottle and around 24 months on the lees. That ageing adds depth and a fine bead while keeping the grape's freshness and precision intact. The dosage sits at a dry Brut level, letting the fruit and chalky minerality lead.
The colour is bright gold with a fine, persistent perlage. The nose opens on lime, grapefruit and citrus, backed by ripe fruit and floral nuance. The palate shows yellow fruit, apricot and nectarine with white blossom, a delicate almond note, a touch of mint and a subtle brioche edge. The finish is smooth, elegant and long. Serve at 8 to 10 degrees in a white wine glass. It suits zander or pike, oysters and scallops, and makes a fine aperitif.
