Description
Ruggeri was founded in 1950 near Valdobbiadene, north of Treviso, and Argeo is its everyday DOC Prosecco, made entirely from Glera picked by hand in September. Vinification follows the Charmat method, with the second fermentation in pressurised tanks, which builds the fine perlage and keeps the grape's fresh, primary character to the fore. Stainless steel and a young release preserve that freshness, and the dosage sits at a balanced Brut level around 12 grams per litre.
The colour is bright yellow with a fine, lively bead. The nose shows grapefruit and lime with floral notes and a hint of green apple. The palate is refreshing and sparkling, with balanced acidity and a clean, fruity flavour, closing on a delicate citrus aftertaste. Serve well chilled at 5 to 7 degrees in a tulip glass. It works as an aperitif and alongside fresh salads, sushi, canapes, grilled salmon or oysters.
