Ron Espero Liqueur Creole Coffee & Rum

Ron Espero Liqueur Creole Coffee and Rum is a coffee rum liqueur built on aged Dominican rum, a molasses spirit from a column still given a generous coffee and sweetness layer, bottled at 40%. The label is honest about what it is, a flavoured liqueur rather than a dry sipping rum, and it sets out to deliver coffee character above all.

The nose runs to dark chocolate, coffee, espresso and praline, and the palate follows with sweet espresso, vanilla and dark chocolate over a soft aged rum base, finishing on more coffee and chocolate. The underlying seven year rum gives it a little more backbone than a purely synthetic coffee liqueur, lifting the natural coffee flavour. It is a tasty, good value coffee treat, lovely neat over ice, in desserts or for baking, and a more rum forward alternative for anyone who enjoys the style but wants real spirit behind the coffee.
