Ron Espero Cocoa & Rum Liqueur Creole is a flavoured Dominican bottling from the Albert Michler Distillery, built on molasses rum and turned firmly toward dessert. There is no age statement and it is presented at 40%, with the rum acting as a base for sweet cocoa and coffee flavours rather than as the main event.
This is honestly a liqueur in style. The nose is coffee, chocolate and cocoa, the palate brings coffee, cocoa, chocolate and fudge with a soft, cake batter sweetness, and the finish stays on cocoa, fudge and chocolate. There is no burn and the whole thing leans soft and sugary, lining up closely with a coffee or chocolate liqueur on a rum base.
