Description
Purasangre Anejo is a 100% Blue Weber tequila distilled from mature highland agave in Los Altos, Jalisco, the name meaning thoroughbred and the bottle carrying a racehorse to match. It is made by distiller Enrique Fonseca at La Tequilena under NOM 1146, the Atotonilco house that also produces ArteNOM, Fuenteseca, Don Fulano and Tears of Llorona.
As an anejo it rests fourteen months in oak, putting it past the one year minimum for the class under NOM-006. The aroma is clear with roasted nuts, American oak, cinnamon, vanilla, pepper and caramel, while the palate is full bodied and dense, balanced and elegant with almond, vanilla, sandalwood and more caramel. Bottled at 40%, it keeps the structured, agave forward character of the Fonseca highland style.
