Description
This is the Fuerte, the higher strength blanco from Purasangre, distilled by Enrique Fonseca at La Tequilena, NOM 1146 in Atotonilco el Alto. It is built from a selection of mature blue agave grown in the Los Altos highlands of Jalisco, where iron rich red clay and altitude give larger, sweeter pinas. Unaged, it puts the agave and the still front and centre.
The extra proof is the point of the Fuerte name. At 43.5% the aromas of gentle agave sweetness and ripe agave carry with more intensity, while the palate is bright and fresh with a light citrus finish and a forceful, structured mouthfeel. It reflects the Fonseca house style of clean, terroir driven highland tequila, robust and balanced, made to sip neat or to anchor a margarita with fresh lime.
