Description
Weingut Polz, founded in 1896 in southern Styria, works some of Austria's best white-wine sites, and this Sekt is made entirely from Gelber Muskateller. Vinification runs in steel tanks to preserve the Muscat grape's aromatic character and freshness, and the wine is released young and dry to keep that primary character intact. The fruit is hand-picked and selectively sorted, reflecting the house focus on careful cellar work and its South Styrian terroir.
The colour is light green-yellow. The nose is promising and floral, with ripe grape, elderflower, white flowers and fine herbs, and the palate is elegant and fruity, with a fine, pleasant acidity and a peachy, blossomy character. The finish is long and persistent. Serve at 8 to 10 degrees in a white wine glass. It makes an aromatic aperitif and suits light salads, white fish and fresh goat's cheese.
