Description

This Plantation XO single cask takes young Barbados rum and finishes it in a cask from Mackmyra, the Swedish whisky distillery, here the smoky Ambassador Rok edition. A Maison Ferrand bottling distilled in 2017 and aged six years, it is offered at 40.6%, the whisky cask its main point of interest.

The nose shows vanilla, orange peel, cinnamon and a creamy note, while the palate leans heavily on banana with warmth, roasted notes and chocolate. At its young age and modest proof the alcohol is not fully settled, and a few drops of water help tame the spirit and the banana dominance. The Mackmyra finishing adds a smoky accent, though the result stays soft and youthful rather than deep, a curiosity for those drawn to rum and whisky cask crossovers more than to a polished, mature sipper.
