Description
Ocho Añejo Corralillos 2023 is a 100% agave, vintage and single estate tequila from the Camarena family at NOM 1474, made in collaboration with the late Tomás Estes. Each release names its rancho, and Corralillos sits about five kilometres north of Lake Chapala at 1,550 metres, the lowest elevation Ocho has ever used, a flat clay soiled field chosen to explore a different terroir among cattle pasture and maize.
The agave is cooked, milled and twice distilled in the house style, then rested twelve months in ex-whiskey barrels of American white oak. That gentle aging gives a subtle nutty, vanilla led character over a still clear cooked agave core, the wood present but restrained. Bottled at 40%, the añejo variants are filled in 0.7 litre bottles where the blanco and reposado use half litre formats.
