Description
Ocho is the single estate, vintage dated tequila from the Camarena family at NOM 1474, each release named for the specific field that grew it. This extra anejo, a 2018 collector edition in a wooden case, comes from the El Bajío field in the Jesús María district of the Los Altos highlands, where the gentle slopes of the lower valley face north to south. The agave was harvested in 2018 after reaching full maturity at six to seven years, and Ocho is made without additives, listed as additive-free on Tequila Matchmaker.
As an extra anejo the spirit has spent at least three years in oak, and the wood now leads. The nose shows cherry, red fruit and a slight tartness with oak, cinnamon and spice, while the palate is sweet and spiced with roasted oak, anise, nuts, almond, herbs, black pepper and a light minerality. Bottled at 40%.
