Description
Ocho Tequila Añejo Widow Jane Cask Finish 2022 is a single estate, vintage dated tequila from Carlos Camarena and the Ocho project, made at NOM 1474 in the Los Altos highlands of Jalisco. Like all Ocho releases it names its field, here El Nacimiento, harvested in 2022, and is produced additive-free as the house states. This limited edition matured for twelve months in American oak casks from the Widow Jane whiskey distillery in Brooklyn, barrels that had held ten year old bourbon.
The bourbon cask shows clearly across cooked agave, oak and vanilla, with caramel, cherry, lemon, orange blossom and a saline edge, while the palate turns to black pepper, cooked agave, caramel, dried fruit, apple, mint and honey. Bottled at a generous 48%, it keeps the bright highland agave of Ocho legible beneath the sweet, spiced influence of the American oak.
