Mortlach 22 Years Old 1998 (Sansibar)

From Sansibar, an independent bottler, this 22 Year Old is a 1998 vintage, an outturn of 347 bottles. Mortlach, long the muscular heart of the Johnnie Walker blends, draws its meaty depth from low-copper worm tubs and a 2.81-times distillation regime.

By twenty-two years the muscular Dufftown spirit had turned dense and leathery in the sherry, oxidation drawing out fig, date, walnut and dark chocolate.

At 56.4% it shows raisin, walnut and a leathery, sherried richness over the meaty Mortlach body, undiluted. The savoury Dufftown style.
