Mortlach 21 Years Old 1994 Cask #2 (Murray McDavid)

Murray McDavid, founded in 1996 by the team that revived Bruichladdich, drew this 21 Year Old: a 1994 vintage from cask 2, an outturn of 292 bottles. Mortlach is the Speyside outlier known as the Beast of Dufftown, its worm tubs and 2.81 distillation building a dense, sulphury, meaty spirit.

Twenty-one years in ex-Bourbon let oxidation gain weight, baked fruit and a waxy, oily depth building over the bold, full-bodied make.

At 50.4% it shows citrus, honey and vanilla, undiluted. A Beast of Dufftown.
