Description
Morrison and MacKay, bottlers of the Carn Mor range, bottles this 20 Year Old: a 1995 from cask 4123, an outturn of 260 bottles. Mortlach's heavy, savoury style comes from worm-tub condensing and a part-triple distillation through the Wee Witchie, unchanged since 1897.
By twenty years the gamey, savoury spirit had turned oxidative, esters and acetals lending dried fruit and a meaty, oily weight beneath the vanilla.
At 55.5% it shows a savoury, struck-match note, undiluted. The meaty Dufftown style.
