Mortlach 18 Years Old 1998 Cask #5 (Signatory Vintage)

Signatory Vintage, one of Scotland's largest independent bottlers, bottles this 18 Year Old: a 1998 from cask 5, an outturn of 681 bottles. Founded in Dufftown in 1823, Mortlach owes its rich, meaty weight to worm-tub condensers and the unusual 2.81 distillation devised by Alexander Cowie.

Eighteen years in Oloroso deepened the robust Mortlach spirit into figgy dried fruit and leather, oxidation and ellagitannins adding a nutty, polished structure.

At 55.8% it shows dried fruit and a sherried depth, undiluted. A Beast of Dufftown.
