Mortlach 17 Years Old 1997 Cask #7165 + 7166 (Signatory Vintage)

From Signatory Vintage, one of Scotland's largest independent bottlers, this 17 Year Old is a 1997 vintage, a small parcel of casks, an outturn of 759 bottles. Mortlach's robust, umami-rich spirit is the work of worm-tub condensers and the Wee Witchie's triple pass, a regime in place at Dufftown since 1897.

By seventeen years the dense Mortlach spirit had turned oxidative, esters and acetals lending dried fruit and a savoury, oily weight beneath the vanilla.

At 46% it shows malt, dried fruit and a leathery edge carried on the heavy Dufftown body. Big, savoury and full-bodied.
