Mortlach 16 Years Old 1995 Cask #4077 + 78 (Signatory Vintage)

Signatory Vintage, one of Scotland's largest independent bottlers, released this 16 Year Old, a 1995 from a small parcel of casks, an outturn of 775 bottles. Mortlach is Speyside's great meaty malt, its 1823 Dufftown stillhouse using worm tubs and a 2.81 distillation that defies the region's lighter norm.

Sixteen years in ex-Bourbon let oxidation gain weight, baked fruit and a waxy, oily depth building over the muscular Dufftown spirit.

At 46% it shows malt, dried fruit and a leathery edge over the oily Mortlach weight. A meaty, muscular Mortlach.
