Mortlach 15 Years Old (Gordon & MacPhail)

Gordon & MacPhail of Elgin, whose deep stocks include some of the oldest Mortlach in existence, selected this 15 Year Old. Mortlach is Speyside's great meaty malt, its 1823 Dufftown stillhouse using worm tubs and a 2.81 distillation that defies the region's lighter norm.

Fifteen years in Oloroso deepened the robust Mortlach spirit into figgy dried fruit and leather, oxidation and ellagitannins adding a nutty, polished structure.

At 46% it shows a sherried depth, fresh fruit, citrus, a nutty weight, honey and old wood. A bold, rich Mortlach.
