Mortlach 15 Years Old 1994 (Murray McDavid)

Murray McDavid, founded in 1996 by the team that revived Bruichladdich, selected this 15 Year Old, a 1994 vintage, an outturn of 1,800 bottles. Mortlach is the Speyside outlier known as the Beast of Dufftown, its worm tubs and 2.81 distillation building a dense, sulphury, meaty spirit.

By fifteen years the dense Mortlach spirit had turned oxidative, esters and acetals lending dried fruit and a savoury, oily weight beneath the vanilla.

At 46% it shows citrus, fresh fruit, honey, fresh oak and a nutty depth. A Beast of Dufftown.
