Duncan Taylor, the Huntly independent founded in 1938 with one of Scotland's deepest cask inventories. The Octave range finishes whisky in small eight-firkin octave casks for concentrated oak contact; this 9 Year Old is a 2005 vintage from cask 837112, an outturn of 81. Miltonduff, the fresh, floral Speyside distilled beside Pluscarden Abbey near Elgin and long bound for the Ballantine's blend.

The eight-firkin octave packed nine years of intense bourbon oak around the grassy, floral make, lending vanilla and toffee faster than a full barrel would.

At 54.2% it shows bright apple, pear and vanilla, undiluted. An Octave 9.
