From Whiskymax's Idols of Scotland series, this 9 Year Old is a 2011 vintage from ex-Bourbon cask 800533, an outturn of 270 bottles. Miltonduff, the fresh, floral Speyside distilled beside Pluscarden Abbey near Elgin and long bound for the Ballantine's blend.
Nine years in ex-Bourbon kept things spirit-led, the char cleaning up raw notes as the low-tannin oak began lending vanilla to Miltonduff's light spirit.
At 46.5% it shows citrus, fresh fruit, new wood and vanilla. An Idols of Scotland 9.
