Duncan Taylor, the Huntly independent founded in 1938 with one of Scotland's deepest cask inventories. This 31 Year Old draws on a 1981 vintage in ex-Bourbon, cask 5094, 189 bottles filled. Miltonduff, the delicate Speyside drawn from the abbey-blessed Black Burn and long bound for Ballantine's.

Thirty-one years in a bourbon cask carried the floral spirit to the edge of its life, ethereal beeswax and ester fruit, the tannins held just short of bitterness. A humid Speyside warehouse drew the strength down over the years.

At 50% it shows mature apple, pear and honey over vanilla, undiluted. A 1981 single cask 31.
