Duncan Taylor, the Huntly independent founded in 1938 with one of Scotland's deepest cask inventories. This Octave 15 Year Old is a 2008 vintage from a small ex-Bourbon octave, cask 8339936, a release of 82 bottles. Miltonduff, a light, floral Speyside from near Elgin, its spirit long destined for the Ballantine's blend.

Fifteen years in the small octave cask pushed oak into the sweet, floral distillate quickly, lending vanilla and toffee faster than a full barrel would. A cool Speyside warehouse held the pace gentle and steady.

At 53.7% it shows mature apple, pear and vanilla, undiluted. An Octave 15.
