The Scotch Malt Whisky Society, founded at The Vaults in Leith in 1983, codes its bottlings rather than naming distilleries, 7 being Longmorn. This 28 Year Old is a 1985 vintage, titled Hawaiian holidays, an outturn of 200 bottles.

Twenty-eight years in ex-Bourbon shaped the weighty make, the American oak contributing vanilla and a gentle coconut from its lactones.

At 58.7% it shows a coal-gas mineral edge over mature orchard fruit and Longmorn's richness, undiluted. A Society 7.100.
