Description
The Scotch Malt Whisky Society, founded at The Vaults in Leith in 1983, codes its bottlings rather than naming distilleries, 7 being Longmorn. This 23 Year Old is a 1990 vintage, given the Society's characteristically playful title, an outturn of 209 bottles.
Twenty-three years in ex-Bourbon rounded the rich Speyside spirit, the low-tannin American oak lending vanilla through lignin breakdown.
At 56.1% it shows mature orchard fruit and a soft vanilla over Longmorn's richness, undiluted. A Society 7.99.
