Description

This 2000 Distillers Edition was bottled in 2016 at sixteen years old, released in Lagavulin's bicentenary year and finished in Pedro Ximenez. Lagavulin, at Lagavulin Bay on Islay's south shore, was founded in 1816, exactly two centuries earlier.

The spirit is heavily peated and distilled at a deliberate, slow pace. After the initial maturation it was re-racked into Pedro Ximenez casks for a raisiny sweetness.

Bottled at 43%. Guaiacol and phenols carry the maritime smoke, the PX wrapping it in raisin and fig. Tasting notes take in dried fruit, a sherried character, smoke, chocolate, a nutty note and tobacco. A bicentenary-year PX Distillers Edition.
