Description

This 1995 Distillers Edition was bottled in 2011 at sixteen years old, the PX-finished release of the vintage two years before its older Oloroso sibling. One of Islay's south-coast distilleries, Lagavulin was founded in 1816.

Lagavulin's peated wash is taken slowly off pear-shaped stills. After the initial maturation it was re-racked into Pedro Ximenez casks for a raisiny sweetness.

Bottled at 43%. Guaiacol and phenols carry the maritime smoke, the PX adding raisin and date. The recorded notes run to smoke and leather. A PX-finished Distillers Edition.
