Description

This 1990 Distillers Edition was bottled in 2006 at sixteen years old, a PX-finished vintage of Lagavulin's smoke. Lagavulin, at its namesake bay on Islay's south coast, was founded in 1816 and is one of the island's most famous distilleries.

The peated spirit is distilled slowly, the still shape adding weight. After its first maturation it was finished in Pedro Ximenez casks for a raisiny depth.

Bottled at 43%. Phenols and guaiacol carry the maritime peat, the PX bringing raisin and fig. Tasting notes take in dried fruit, a kippery note, a sherried character, smoke and tobacco. A PX-finished Distillers Edition.
