Description

This 27 Years Old is a Lagavulin Select Cask, distilled in 1991 and drawn from ex-Bourbon cask 0016, bottled in 2018, an outturn of 432 bottles. Lagavulin, founded in 1816, is the middle voice of southern Islay's peated trio.

Lagavulin's heavily peated spirit is distilled slowly through its pear-shaped stills. Matured in a single ex-Bourbon cask at full strength, twenty-seven years soften the smoke into a waxy maturity.

Bottled at its natural cask strength of 51.8%. Guaiacol and phenols carry a mellowed smoke, the ex-Bourbon giving vanilla over a waxy depth. A mature Select Cask Lagavulin.
