Lagavulin Lg9 ElD Elements of Islay (Elixir)

Elixir Distillers bottled this 2007 Lagavulin as Lg9 in its Elements of Islay range, an 11 year old cask strength ex-Bourbon release from 2018. Founded in 1816, Lagavulin is the middle voice of southern Islay's peated trio.

Lagavulin's pot stills run slowly, building a dense peated character. Matured in ex-Bourbon at full strength, eleven years give a bright, direct smoke.

Bottled at full strength, 57.6%. The smoke owes to guaiacol and phenols, the cask lending vanilla. The recorded note is vanilla over the smoke. A rare independent Elements of Islay Lagavulin.
