Description

Speciality Drinks bottled this Lagavulin as Lg5 in its Elements of Islay range, a cask strength ex-Bourbon release for the Netherlands in 2015. Lagavulin was built in 1816 on the bay that gives it its name, on southern Islay.

Long fermentation and slow distillation shape the heavy peated spirit. Matured in ex-Bourbon at full strength, the wood gives vanilla beneath the smoke.

At its natural strength of 54.8%. The phenols, guaiacol among them, drive the smoke, the ex-Bourbon giving vanilla. Tasting notes take in citrus, honey and a kippery edge. A rare Elements of Islay Lagavulin.
