Elixir Distillers bottled this 2007 Lagavulin as Lg11 in its Elements of Islay range, which codes Islay distilleries by abbreviation, a 14 year old, an outturn of 1,067 bottles. Independent Lagavulin is rare, since almost all of its spirit is kept for official bottling. Lagavulin was founded in 1816 and sits between its Kildalton neighbours on Islay.

Long fermentation and slow distillation shape the heavy peated spirit. Matured in ex-Bourbon at full strength, fourteen years give a vivid smoke.

Bottled without dilution at 54.1%. Phenolic compounds drive the peat smoke, the ex-Bourbon giving vanilla. A rare independent Elements of Islay Lagavulin.
