Description

This was the distillery's Islay Jazz Festival release for 2015, matured in European oak, an outturn of 3,500 bottles. Founded in 1816, Lagavulin sits among the famous trio of southern Islay distilleries.

Long fermentation and slow distillation shape the heavy peated spirit. Matured in European oak at full strength, the sherry-seasoned wood adds dried fruit to the smoke.

55.4%, the cask's own strength. Guaiacol leads the phenols behind the smoke, the European oak giving dried fruit. Tasting notes take in smoke, a medicinal edge, an oily texture, new wood, vanilla and chocolate. A sherried jazz festival edition.
