Lagavulin Islay Jazz Festival 2012 15 Years Old 1997

This 15 Years Old was the distillery's Islay Jazz Festival release for 2012, distilled in 1997 and drawn from Oloroso cask 1894, an outturn of 624 bottles. The distillery dates from 1816, set between Laphroaig and Ardbeg on Islay.

A famously unhurried distillation gives a heavy, peated body. Matured in a single Oloroso cask at full strength, the sherry adds dried fruit to fifteen years of smoke.

Bottled undiluted at 54.5%. Phenols and guaiacol carry the peat smoke, the Oloroso giving fig and raisin. The recorded note is a cooked vegetable edge. A sherried jazz festival single cask.
