Description

This 18 Years Old was bottled for the Islay Jazz Festival in 2011, distilled in 1993 and drawn from Oloroso cask 355, an outturn of 576 bottles. The distillery dates from 1816, set in a sheltered bay on southern Islay.

The malt is heavily peated, the spirit drawn slowly off the stills. Matured in a single Oloroso cask at full strength, the sherry wraps the smoke in dried fruit.

At cask strength, 55.4%. Guaiacol and cresols carry the smoke, the Oloroso giving fig and raisin. The recorded note is a coal-gas mineral edge. A sherried jazz festival single cask.
