Description

This 24 Years Old was the distillery's Feis Ile release for 2015, distilled in 1991 and matured in American oak, an outturn of 3,500 bottles. Lagavulin dates from 1816, tucked into a bay between Laphroaig and Ardbeg.

Lagavulin's pot stills run slowly, building a dense peated character. Matured in American oak at full strength, more than two decades soften the smoke into a mature depth.

Bottled undiluted at 59.9%. Guaiacol and cresols carry the smoke, the oak adding vanilla. Expect chocolate, a cooked mash note, dried fruit, fresh fruit, a green note and a kippery edge. A mature festival vintage.
