Description

This 14 Years Old was Lagavulin's release for the 2012 Islay festival, distilled in 1998 and drawn from Oloroso cask 1716. Founded in 1816, the distillery sits on Islay's southern shore at Lagavulin Bay.

Lagavulin's heavily peated spirit is distilled slowly through its pear-shaped stills. Matured in a single Oloroso cask at full strength, the sherry wraps fourteen years of smoke in dried fruit.

Bottled at full strength, 55.1%. Phenols and guaiacol carry the peat smoke, the Oloroso giving fig and raisin. The recorded note is a leafy lift over the smoke. A sherried festival single cask.
