Lagavulin Distillery Only 2010

This Distillery Only 2010 was a cask strength Lagavulin limited edition matured in ex-Bourbon, sold at the distillery, an outturn of 6,000 bottles. The distillery dates from 1816, set on the Kildalton coast of southern Islay.

Lagavulin's peated spirit is run slowly off the stills for weight. Matured in ex-Bourbon at full strength, the wood gives vanilla beneath the smoke.

At cask strength, 52.5%. Guaiacol and other phenols power the smoke, vanilla from the oak beneath. Notes take in citrus, an oily texture, smoke, dried fruit, a kippery edge and leather. A distillery-only Lagavulin.
