Lagavulin Distillery Exclusive Bottling (bottled 2017)

This Distillery Exclusive Bottling was a 2017 cask strength Lagavulin matured in ex-Bourbon, sold at the distillery, an outturn of 7,500 bottles. Founded in 1816, the distillery sits on Islay's southern shore at Lagavulin Bay.

Onion-shaped stills and a slow run give Lagavulin its weight. Matured in ex-Bourbon at full strength, the wood gives vanilla beneath the smoke.

At its natural strength of 54.1%. Phenolic compounds drive the peat smoke, the ex-Bourbon giving vanilla and honey. Tasting notes take in fresh fruit, smoke, a hay-like note, honey, a medicinal edge and a nutty note. A distillery exclusive Lagavulin.
