Description
This 29 Years Old was hand-filled at the distillery for Feis Ile 2024, a 1995 vintage single cask, a tiny outturn of 250 bottles. Among the oldest Lagavulin festival releases, it is a rare glimpse of well-aged Islay peat. Lagavulin, founded in 1816, is the middle voice of southern Islay's peated trio.
A long, slow distillation through onion-shaped stills shapes the peated make. Matured in ex-Bourbon casks across twenty-nine years, the smoke softens into a waxy, mature depth.
Bottled at cask strength. Guaiacol and phenols carry a now-mellow smoke, the ex-Bourbon giving vanilla over a waxy depth. The recorded notes run to fresh fruit, old wood and smoke. A rare old hand-filled Lagavulin.
