Description
This 15 Years Old is an old Lagavulin bottled in a ceramic jug under the White Horse Distillers name, the blending house Lagavulin was licensed under until the White Horse Royal Warrant was lost around 2000. A vintage collectable. Established in 1816, Lagavulin sits in a quiet bay on the south of Islay.
Peter Mackie, who ran Lagavulin, created the White Horse blend in 1890, and the distillery's malt was long its heart. Matured in ex-Bourbon casks, fifteen years carry the coastal smoke.
Bottled at 45%. Guaiacol and phenols give the smoke, the ex-Bourbon adding vanilla. The recorded note is a cooked vegetable edge over the peat. A vintage White Horse era Lagavulin in a ceramic jug.
