Description

This 15 Years Old was Lagavulin's bottling for the Islay Jazz Festival in 2023, a cask strength release of 3,000 bottles matured in Oloroso. Lagavulin was built in 1816 on the bay that gives it its name, on southern Islay.

Lagavulin runs its pear-shaped stills slowly for a heavy, peated spirit. Matured in Oloroso casks at full strength, the sherry wraps the smoke in dark fruit.

Bottled undiluted at 53.9%. The peat smoke is all guaiacol and phenols, the Oloroso giving dried fruit, melanoidins reading as fig and raisin. A sherried festival cask strength Lagavulin.
