Description
A cask strength 12, this was the 2016 Special Release, in Lagavulin's bicentenary year, matured in American oak. Lagavulin sits at Lagavulin Bay between Laphroaig and Ardbeg, founded in 1816, two centuries before.
The peated spirit is distilled slowly, the still shape adding weight. Matured in American oak and bottled undiluted, twelve years give a vivid coastal smoke.
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 57.7%. The smoke comes off the phenols and guaiacol, the American oak giving vanilla. Tasting notes take in citrus, smoke, old wood, a hay-like note, honey and vanilla. A bicentenary-year cask strength Special Release.
